Note from McKenzie
Hello! My name is McKenzie Holt, owner and founder of Holt's Music. Holt's Music, LLC was an idea that I've had ever since I noticed the lack of value that's placed on music education by our school boards, politicians, and the American public as a whole. I've always wanted to create a place where kids can feel fully supported in whatever musical journey they choose, and provide extra education specifically in music to create a well rounded education for all of our students.
I’ve always asked myself, why does American Society seem to not appreciate or enjoy classical music as much as a European Society. Sure there is much more classical music history within the European community, but that’s really only due to the fact that Europe and other countries were founded many centuries before the United States. As I looked around within our education system, I came to the conclusion that a lack of exposure to classical music and all it has to offer is the main culprit. What I have always hoped to accomplish is provide exposure of all the ins and outs that classical music has to offer, in an easily digestible way.
Fast forward to 2021, my family and I moved here to Harmony, Pennsylvania - 30 miles north of Pittsburgh. While playing with The Butler Symphony Orchestra and getting to know the teachers who I have the privilege of sharing music with, they were expressing a deep need for a place where they could easily send their kids to purchase equipment needed for their instruments, to find private lessons, and to be able to quickly get the books they needed for the year. These places may exist, but they were and are not easy to come by it would seem.
My husband and I, both coming from music backgrounds, put our heads together to think of a way we could provide what the teachers were asking for, and Holt’s Music was born. We are passionate about providing this community with a fully rounded music education and hope to provide the community with everything they need and more.
Services Offered - the details
Come join us in our new location in Harmony, PA! We've moved to 250 Mercer Street, upstairs last door at the end of the hall. We offer violin and viola lessons, string instrument repair and maintenance, and some rental violins and violas. Our new space also allows us to offer a space for small groups to hold rehearsals! Email us for more information and scheduling.
Private lessons with McKenzie are currently open Monday and Thursday evenings, and typically are half hour lessons at $40 per lesson. Group lessons are also available on Mondays - $25 per student per week for 45 minutes.

Lastly, we have a few instruments to rent! Not sure what your student will be into? Try renting something for a few months to see how they feel about it! Contact us for details.
Our five year plan is to grow to offer more lessons for different instruments, open a small retail shop for accessories, and offer other music classes such as basic music theory, music history, and aural skills.
